Love in the morning | Northwest Arkansas Engagement Photographer

Posted on April 18, 2011

After our original session date was canceled due to stormy weather craziness, I gave Arissa and Davey two options for the reschedule. One of the options was for 6:45 in the morning so we’d be able to take advantage of some yummy sunrise light.   Not a lot of people would be okay with such an early morning session, but I’m so glad that they did!  It wasn’t supposed to be such a COLD morning, but we made the best of it and got some gorgeous images.

Love is in the Air Winner!! | Northwest Arkansas Couple Photographer

Posted on April 14, 2011

I recently had the extreme pleasure of spending an evening with the winners of my Love is in the Air contest. It was incredibly fun and I enjoyed myself so much! There were snake attacks, beautiful locations, gorgeous images, sweet kiddos, hilarious connections, and good times. Julie and Ty are two of the most easy going people I’ve ever met as well as being super nice. I swear I get to photograph the most amazing people. It’s such a great bonus!

When they asked me if I would mind traveling to a little known studio outside of Fayetteville where they got married, I was very intrigued. I had only heard of Terra Studios one other time and I have been living in Northwest Arkansas for the majority of my life.  I wish I had known about it sooner and I can’t wait to take my kids there.  So much art and whimsy!  It’s just amazing and something completely appealing to me.  (Points for both of my last couples coming up with ideas that just sing to me!!)

I didn’t even try to narrow these down.  I just grabbed a bunch of my faves.  Grab a drink, sit back, and Enjoy!!  :D
See, Julie is an incredibly talented artist. (here’s her facebook page) That’s some of her art. Gorgeous, yes? :)

Awesome thing about the above photo: I snapped a few test shots to make sure that I got their faces in the shard I wanted. Later on that evening, I was looking through my LCD at some of the photos and came across this one:

At first glance, I thought it was just a weird, squished Julie, but then I noticed in a bottom shard that her mouth was parted. Then I realized that it was Julie and Ty MERGED together into one freaky combined face. How cool is that?!!

Um, yeah, Julie, if you ever doubted your beauty, just look at this again and again!!

Books.  There is just something about them, isn’t there?  The way that they crack down the spine when you open them up, that slightly musty smell wafting through the air, and the rustle of the pages as you flip through one for the first time.  It’s intoxicating.  I’ve had an intense love affair with books for as long as I can remember, so when Erin said that she had a great idea involving a book store and that she thought it would be right up my alley, I think I died a little inside from happiness.

If you love books and you live in Northwest Arkansas, you’ve heard of the Bookshop nestled in the heart of Dickson street.  And if you haven’t, you must be living under a rock.  It’s a literal maze of bookshelves that beg you to become lost in them.  They invite you to curl up on the floor next to a stack of books and spend an afternoon.  It’s so amazing.

Erin collects first edition children’s books.  Not only that, but she and Daniel share a great love for books and visit this shop often so they thought it would be really fun to do their engagement session there.  I agree!!

I had so many favorites from this session, it was really, really hard to stop picking some to post for the blog.

These next two photos begged for a bit of a different processing.  Who am I to say no?  ;)

Before we actually went to the books, we met at the church where Daniel and Erin met.  Aren’t they cute?

And this is what happens when you tell them to give  you a serious look.  :D
