Giving is Fun | Northwest Arkansas Family Photographer

Roughly once a year,
I like to give the gift of photography.
It’s fun.
It’s a great feeling.
And it is so appreciated.

This year, a friend and fellow photographer, the talented Stacy of Focus Photography, posted
about an amazing give away that she is doing.
You nominate someone that you adore and love and think deserves a free session.
The fun thing is if that person wins, the one who nominated receives a free session, too!
Awesome, right?

Well, I was thinking (after talking with her, of course) about how I could do something similar.

But I want to kick it up a notch.

I’m not just giving away a free session.

I’m giving away a free wedding.

Say what??

Yes, that’s right.
One gift of wedding photography.
Six hours of coverage, a complimentary engagement session, and a disc of the wedding day images.

AND the person who nominates the winning couple will get a complimentary portrait session as well!
Just call me Cherronaclaus!!
(Yeah, that was a little lame, but I totally laughed!!)

Okay, time for the details!!

If you know of a wonderful couple that you think deserves a nomination, simply email a snapshot
and a little letter to me explaining
why you think they would be perfect for a wedding giveaway!
Are they the type that is always there for their friends, even if that means
helping them move in 105 degree weather up three flights of stairs?
Are they always hosting the get-togethers for the big game?
Are they just the nicest people ever?
I wanna know!

Nominations can be sent in between now and December 10th at 11:59pm.
I will announce the winner of December 12th, which is my wedding anniversary.
Awwwwww.

Fine Print:

Prizes are not redeemable for cash and are non-transferable
Wedding must place take place in 2012 in NWA unless all travel expenses are paid
Complimentary session must take place by the end of May, 2012

Dearest Paeton,

You. Crack. Me. Up.

Your imagination, your cute little voice, the stories you tell.
All of it makes me giggle
and makes me oh so happy
that you are mine.

You are my snuggle bug.
More than the other three,
you are more than content to
curl up in my lap,
sit at my side,
get in my way while doing chores.

Your big, huge smile
lights up my life.
It’s contagious.

I love the way you are a little shy at first in new situations.
I love the way you twist your mouth into funny, awkward shapes
when you are embarrassed or unsure of how to act.

Your full on laugh and big accompanying smile
is one of the best things in the world.
I dare anyone not to grin
when you do it.

You are so kind and sweet.
It makes my heart happy.

You make my heart happy.
Every. Single. Day.

A Chance in Front of the Camera | Northwest Arkansas Family Photographer

The sad reality at times about photographers is that we are rarely in front of the camera.
There are photos of our spouses, our children, our friends and our clients.
But not us.

When Kim contacted me about a family session, I knew exactly how she felt.
She said her last family session was back in 2008.
We couldn’t have that!
(We don’t even want to talk about the last time MY family was photographed by someone other than myself. )

It was really sketchy there for a moment.
After following the weather all week and looking like we had a great window,
it POURED just minutes from our session.
In fact, it was still sprinkling when we arrived.
We waited it out.
It was worth it.

I’m so happy that the weather worked out for us.
I had a great time and we got some gorgeous images.
Yay!

She was absolutely thrilled by this crystal ball in the garden.
I had to keep her away from stepping into the actual garden many times.
She thought it was magical.

I think she is.

Happy Birthday | Northwest Arkansas Childrens Photographer

Dear Aryah,

You came as such a surprise to us with your early arrival.
It was scary and exciting all at the same time and in the end we had
this tiny, itty bitty baby who stole our hearts.

Life with you has been so interesting.
You are much more wild than
your sisters.
That in itself is pretty funny because
I thought Paeton was
going to be our wild one.
I was SO wrong.

Your will is so strong and
your determination rivals even
your father’s.

There is never any doubt if you are upset.
You are happy to let us know.
And when you get in trouble,
you are quick to try
and pucker up
to smooth it over with a kiss.

You are a wiggly
snuggle bug
who loves to crawl into my lap
and bury your sweet head
into the curve of my neck.
It’s one of the best feelings in the world.

Much to my utter dismay,
you can find a way to scale anything.
A favorite past time for you
seems to be seeing just how
many times you can try to get in the spice cabinet.
Our kitchen has smelled of
curry on more than one
occasion.

Another ‘delightful’ thing you just
ADORE
is finding markers or pen
and scribbling furiously
over every inch of exposed skin.
In fact, you
are currently painted in shades of red
and black that is
s l o w l y
rubbing off from the last
encounter with permanent
marker.

I love you, sweet baby.
Forever and always.

Halloween | Northwest Arkansas Photographer

Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year! I love seeing all the costumes and creepiness.

John and I went to a Halloween party.
He was the Joker.
I was a zombie.

I had him take this close up of my face.

My sister to this with her iPhone and it ended up being the only full body shot.
This makes me sad because my hand and arm was my favorite part of the entire costume!
The exposed ‘tendons’ actually moved with my fingers.
And I had to paint on the bones with my left hand.

It was such a good Halloween.
We had a lot of fun.
