Sweet Little Guy | Northwest Arkansas Newborn Photographer

Posted on May 6, 2010

This little guy was so precious!  As the mother of four kiddos who had no hair until they were at least two, I’m always amazed to see babies with hair, especially so young.

Don’t you just want to cuddle him?

Snappies of my Sweet Baby | Northwest Arkansas Baby Photographer

Playing on the bed.  Taking photos.  Getting cuddles.  Life is good.

Soon to be four months!

Soon to be four months

She’ll be four months in a week. Surely that isn’t possible.

I don’t want to forget:

  • Sweet baby grins full of gums
  • clutching my shirt in a tiny fist
  • staring up at me with sleepy eyes
  • little coos and grunts
  • smacking and sucking on tiny fingers

A friend recently brought her adorable daughter over for a quick mini-session. She was such a happy baby and gave us such wonderful smiles!!

Sweet baby girl | Northwest Arkansas Newborn Photographer

Posted on December 23, 2009

Oh, how I love this family!  I’ve had the pleasure of taking their engagement photos as well as their wedding.   Now I got to take photos of their sweet baby girl.  I’m having internet problems again at my house so this is going to be a short entry since I’m at a local hotspot.   I promised I’d get the sneak peek up before Christmas. :) I’ll edit it once I get the internet back at my own home.  Until then, just enjoy the sweetness of this beautiful family!

Look at those eyes!  And her lashes were probably the longest I’ve ever seen.  I have to admit I’m a little jealous of them with my own short, blonde lashes.  :)

I hope to have my internet issues resolved, a sneak peek of a lovely wedding, and a few fun photos from my girls’ birthday party up on the blog soon.   Happy Holidays to all!!

Now, first of all, let me say that I’m so glad that I’m much better at this with babies who belong to other people!  :)   My little peanut would NOT go to sleep no matter what tricks I tried to pull.  Out of an almost three hour session, I only got a super small handful of photos that I like. I did, however, get these two that I just LOVE.  And that makes it all worth it for me. :)

Hard to believe that she was supposed to be born this Wednesday but instead will be almost a month old!  I can’t believe it sometimes.

A Very Special Little Guy | Northwest Arkansas Family Photographer

Meet Leighton, one of the toughest little guys I know.  And he is really cute, too!

A little back story.  I met Leighton and his mommy, Laine, through my sister.  Autumn was the assistant director of the daycare that was the sister company to Laine’s dance studio, Kaleidoscope Dance Academy.  Autumn encouraged us to enroll Tatum into the dance studio shortly after we moved back to Arkansas, which we did, and we love.  Despite being at the studio every week, it was a couple of months before I finally met Laine face to face.  Why?  Because not only had Baby Leighton been born early, he also had Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome.  Basically, the left side of his heart did not develop properly.  Because of this,  his mommy spent most of her time at Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.  In fact, Leighton spent the first seven months of his life at Children’s.  The little Tin Man, as his family calls him, had a pretty tough road to travel along, but on the 5th of February, Leighton received the best gift- he received a new heart.  As you are about to see, he is doing so very well.  He is a special little guy and I was very honored to be able to take his portraits.

(I’m trying out a few new ways to display photos on the blog. I think I like how it looks!)

Are they not one of the most beautiful families you’ve ever seen?  And super nice, too.  Some people get all the luck.  ;)

I hope you enjoyed your sneak peek, Laine.  I’ll have the rest ready for you as soon as possible.  See you at dance!

New and oh so sweet | Northwest Arkansas Newborn Photographer

Last week I posted from the hospital where I had just documented the birth of my newest nephew.   This week, when he was only seven little days old, I got to do his newborn session.  Newborns are challenging to work with under normal circumstances, but man are they hard when it involves my family!  Just imagine my kids running around with my niece and nephew as the baby was sleeping all while I was trying to get some shots.   A lot of the outtakes from the outdoor photos had little feet running in the background from some child playing where we told them not to play!  (Only BEHIND the camera, guys!)  It was well worth it, though, because just look at this little guy!!  He’s adorable.

These two are SO proud, can’t you tell?

I couldn’t decide between posting this one in color or black and white, but I decided on the black and white. Isn’t it sweet? He was really happy in the wrap, so we left him in it for most of the session.

He is just so cuddly and sweet!! Almost can’t believe we’ll have a little baby in THIS house at the end of the year. Wow. I can’t wait to do those newborn photos. :)

Happy Birthday Baby Colton | Northwest Arkansas Newborn Photographer

Posted on July 4, 2009

Yesterday, bright and early, I went to spend the day with my sister for a very special occasion.  We’ve been oh so patiently awaiting the birth of her third baby.  (Ok, maybe my sister wasn’t waiting so patiently!)  He was due on the 12th, but because of a small complication, he had to be born a week and a half early.  At 8lbs 7oz and 20 1/2 inches, I really wonder what he would have been like had he been full term.  He is completely fine and perfect despite his early appearance.   He was a nice little patch of hair and was born with THE longest fingernails that I have ever seen on a newborn.

I filmed the births of my niece and nephew, but this time I wanted to try my hand at birth photography.  It was a very fun experience to see the events unfold through different eyes than I have in the past.   There is something so very special and magical about the first few moments when families meet the newest addition.  I’m very happy that I got the opportunity to photograph this event in my own family.

I’m still in the hospital with my sister because I stayed the night with her to help when needed, so I’ve only been able to view the photos on the laptop.   I just converted these to black and white because it was going to be easier than fighting with the color on this crazy monitor.  :)

Let’s all ooh and ahh over little Colton! This little sneak peek may well be the only peek of the birth photography that I post, but there will be TONS of newborn photos over the next couple of weeks, I’m sure. My sis has threatened to come over to my house every day so I can try out all the ideas I have for newborns. Sounds like it will be such a horrible time, huh? :)

So, congratulations to Jack and Autumn for the birth of their newest little baby.  He’s such a cutie.

A Whole Lotta Hair!! | Northwest Arkansas Newborn Photographer

There isn’t much that is better than a sweet, sweet baby. I had the pleasure of spending a fun evening with this sweet baby and her wonderful parents. I adore this couple and am so happy that they have now added a darling baby girl to their little family. And just check out all that hair! It was the softest hair, too. I’m always amazed by little babies with tons of hair as my own babies are always little baldies well past their first year. In fact, my youngest is 18 months and just now showing wee wisps of hair.

Isn’t this cute? I think so. This was one of those photos where I wasn’t quite ready for such great emotion and my settings were just a wee bit off, hence the slight softness, but I still think it is great.

And I’ll leave you too awwww over this precious little face. This one makes my heart melt. She looks so sweet and comfy.

Thank you so much, M and A, for allowing me to photograph your little doll baby. She is gorgeous!! Also, thanks for the yummy enchiladas!
