We’re Caught! | Northwest Arkansas Photographer

Posted on September 2, 2010

It does look like we are completely surprised and caught in the act. Just a mama stealing smooches from her baby; nothing to see here, folks. :)

paparazzi won't leave us alone

I haven’t posted photos of the Itty in a long time. I keep saying I need to do ‘official’ portraits of her and post, but I always end up cuddling instead! I mean, look at her, wouldn’t you cuddle all day long, too? Maybe I can con John into doing some portraits with the two younger girls today while Tatum is at school. Paeton DID pick out her own little outfit today (and did an EXCELLENT job) so why not show it off?

Once upon a time.. |Northwest Arkansas Lifestyle Photographer

Posted on July 31, 2010

Once upon a time, a mommy and her three daughters stumbled upon a blog post by one of the mommy’s friends.  It captured a little boy’s birthday, innocence and youth, all in beautiful photos.  The daughters were intrigued and curious about the tent fort.  Tickled by their enthusiasm, the mommy told them that they could go out and build a fort of their own.  And as tradition for many little girls, a small tea part of sorts was planned.  Costumes, of course, added to the fun.  This is how Pirate Pony and The Princess P were born.  Pirate Pony, being a pirate, loved skulls, but also wanted to show off her love of things girlie and sweet with rainbows and pettiskirts.  The Princess P, who was sort of a grump that day, wanted a Snow White dress with an apron.  The Itty Baby, having no words yet to express her own opinion, was dressed in a handmade red and white dress that made her mother giggle in delight.  And since Itty Baby is an avid army crawler, she was tucked safely in an adorable dolly bassinet for maximum photo taking opportunities.

A grand feast was prepared.  Fish heads, cupcakes, a sewing tomato, potato chips, and what we are fairly sure is a head of lettuce sat prettily upon the table.  The table, as was the fort, was made from milk crates and blankets.  Blankets made by the hands of grandmothers, which make them extra special!  (The mother actually has no idea why her family possesses so many milk crates, but she is happy when they come in handy!)

Dollies, ponies, and bears were invited to the tea party.  A grand time by all.  Well, mostly all.  The Princess P, who was a bit of a grump, remember, decided that this tea party was for the birds.  She found a better use for her fork other than pretend eating plastic grapes.  As the mother happily snapped photos while having tea with Pirate Pony, The Princess P decided she would rather dig a hole in the yard.  And the Pirate Pony decided to join her.  And then the Itty Baby slipped to the bottom of her bassinet and tried to eat grass.  This is when the mother decided it was time to go back inside for a real snack.

Can You See Me Now?

Posted on February 6, 2010

Ugh. What a week. I had website issues in the middle of the week, which were quickly resolved, but now I am having email issues. I can send mail but am unable to receive any. If you have sent an email to me this week and I have yet to respond, it is because I’ve been completely unaware of the problem. Until I get this figured out, please use my old email- raininglightphotography at yahoo.com

Thanks!

Kassie+Doug say I Do | Northwest Arkansas Wedding Photographer

Posted on January 8, 2010

Here is a little peek into the wedding of two of the sweetest people.  I was the photographer only for the getting ready and the First Look, but I loved every minute.  Kassie had a great sense of style with her details.  And her shoes just had to be the best ever.  Blue shoes with robots?  Yes, please!  And she had records as plates. Yes, they are that cool.  But the best part?  The groom’s cake.  Be sure and check it out at the bottom!

Kassie and Doug, I wish you all the best. And remember, you picked a pretty wonderful day to get married! (They were married on my anniversary. :) )

It’s cyber Monday. Yay sales, right? I hoped that I would have this post up earlier than now but there is a certain little peanut that keeps changing my plans, so to make up for it, I decided that I’ll keep the sale open all week long! Yep, an entire week to be able to take advantage of these great specials.

I must be Crazy! | Northwest Arkansas Family Photographer

Posted on August 5, 2009

I came up with this really exciting and fun idea a month ago to have our family photos taken soon.  I wanted to see if I could do it by myself using a remote and a tripod.  I think it was sort of spawned by the fact that I used to do a daily self-portrait project and often convinced my family to help out.  Surely I could get at least one decent family portrait, right?  I was able to get these fun shots with the kiddos last year:

So, I got everyone dressed and picked a location. I was super excited and really hopeful. I mean, really, how hard could it be to get ONE photo good enough to put on the wall?

Ha. Apparently if you throw in a husband with a headache, a goofy four year, and a curious toddler into the mix, it can be very hard!

Observe:

As you can see, I’ve just realized John is chewing on candy.

This shot has perfectly captured the moment when I was thinking of who I was going to hire to do this for us once the baby was born.

I did manage to get two photos that I liked.

This one is pretty cute. Tates had taken over the remote by this point.

And this one just very well may be the one that goes up on the wall.

I just adore it. The baby pointing off at something really cracks me up. I think it will do. At least until next time when I hire someone. I’m already dreaming of what I will wear!

There are a few others that I haven’t looked through yet, as well as a few of just the girls and also some of John in the field with his amp and guitar. (Yes, amp and guitar. They were in the back of the car and you should have seen the attitude change once he realized that and thought it would be cool to set up in the field ;) ) I’ll post those in the next day or so, I’m sure.

I guess it is a good thing that this was a little trial run because you do realize that we’ll have to do this one more time, right? Before the BIG session in the future? Why? Well, we were missing a family member in these as it wasn’t our time to have Blaze so we have to do more with him in it! Can’t you see it now? Not so thrilled hubby, goofy four year old, squirmy toddler AND angst ridden pre-teen all around oh so anxious me? Ah, yes, it will be grand. :)

Flakey Internet

Posted on July 6, 2009

I’ve been having tons of trouble with  my internet over the past couple of weeks.  I’ve had several techs out to try and fix the problem.  Parts have been replaced, wires checked, hardware exchanged.  It’s been a nightmare.  They think that something down my line was struck by lightening.  Because of all of this, I’m lucky if I have internet a couple of hours a day.  :(   This means that emails and such may not be answered as quickly as normally.  I have been going into town for hotspots to at least check my email once a day.  I just hope this problem is resolved soon!!

Thanks for your patience!

Last Minute Wedding Special

Posted on June 28, 2009

rlweddingad

I have a few remaining dates available in July and August for weddings.  I adore weddings and would love to be able to photograph all my available dates before September, so I decided to throw together a little Last Minute Wedding package, one for both eight hour and under four hour weddings.   If you are interested, you can use the contact page or can email me at cherron@raininglightphotos.com for more information!

I’ve yet to find a spare hour to upload my wedding and boudoir galleries (which I’m hoping to do tonight before Staycation 2009 begins this week), but you can easily click on Weddings in the Categories drop down menu  to see all the wedding blog posts.
